TxDOT is widening Hwy 271 from FM 16E to Loop 485, around Loop 485, then north to the Upshur County Line.

Starting January 5, 2026, we will begin moving over 4 miles of waterlines to accomodate the widening of the highway. The contractors will begin by doing road bores and then move on to the lines. As we know where they are going to be working, we will try to let customers know.
